Without alignment – to our values and purpose – we are operating from a scattered and unfocused place. We lack strategy to achieve our goals, and so we say ‘yes’ to too many things, including items that are OUT of alignment with what our actual drivers are.
.
Not the best idea.
.
Because, if we don’t check whether things are in alignment, then we keep floating down the river, without taking stock and prioritizing what matters most. This is unfortunately all too easy, leading to spreading ourselves too thin, saying yes to way too much, overloading our plates, and then beating ourselves up for feeling inadequate.
.
No thank you.
.
It’s time to pause and consider what serves your values, and in turn how your values can inform your goals and pretty much all your decisions. It’s why I talk so much about “Your New Life Blend,” my framework that’s all about getting super clear on what you want, what’s working for you, & ditching what isn’t in alignment with the bigger vision you have for your life.
.
Sounds simple, right?
.
Or does it? 🙂
.
Seeking alignment is crucial (it’s my word of the year, after all), and simple. But as I always say: Simple doesn’t mean easy, and that’s definitely true here.
.
This is because living, working, and overall operating from a place of alignment is all about saying a confident NO to everything that does not line up and support your higher vision and goals.
.
Yep, we all know how saying “NO” can be: super challenging! But it’s absolutely more vital now than ever.
.
Which gets to why I think this moment in time is special. Two years of a rolling pandemic–regardless of how the actual virus has touched your life–affords a really interesting lens through which to take a hard look at our lives and assess.
